When Megaupload was shut down earlier this week by the feds, other popular file sharing sites like Filesonic and Fileserve quickly went into hiding. The bad news is I have accounts at all three.

Joe Paterno dead at 85. Looks like my prediction came true when I said he would be dead within six months. ESPN is talking about it right now saying he died not only of a broken heart, given his recent firing, but because he had lost the will to live. This guy coached college football at Penn State for 62 years(!!!) and all of a sudden it was taken away. I don't think there is any doubt that Joe's love for his work prolonged his life and when it was suddenly taken away, he wilted like a flower. I know his wife and son are crushed and I wish them the best.

I think I'm in a big funk. No, really. On a lighter note, I may take some pictures tomorrow. Depends on how I'm feeling.

Just finished playing Battlefield 3. I thought it was pretty cool for a military type game. Now I'm playing Driver: San Francisco. Rad driving game so far but the car is a little out of control using the keyboard to steer. I really don't want to drag out my big steering wheel but I may have to.

I don't know much about Kate Upton but I think I love her. Video is being a little stubborn for me.

Just finished watching the first season of American Horror Story. I'm not really into TV drama but it was a pretty darn good show. Jessica Lange pretty much made the show with her amazing acting ability and received several prestigious award nominations for her role as the southern belle next door neighbor, Constance. Plenty of hotties, man-ass and potty mouths made up for some questionable story lines but all in all it was pretty good season. Season two reportedly will have an all new cast, house and location. I just finished playing Saints Row 3. It was a blatant rip off of the Grand Theft Auto series but it was pretty darn fun. Here is a snapshot of my dude and his wheels. He was having a bad hair day at the time. I customized the car to look like the one from the Mad Max movies. Now I need a new game to play. I'm thinking the new Harry Potter.

I'm almost finished with Stephen King's newest book, 11-22-63. It's a time travel book where a guy goes back and tries to save JFK from being assassinated. It started off great but kinda fizzled in the middle. Hopefully the ending has a few juicy twists and turns. *added: no twists, no turns, fairly predictable. He saves the pres, he goes back to his regular time and everything is worse off. He goes back in time to try again...blah blah blah.

On Friday I took Gibson to get neutered. It broke my heart to take his manhood but it had to be done. He got some good pain pills out of the deal so he hasn't complained a bit.

Jerry Sandusky, retired assistant Penn State football coach, is one sick fuck (police report PDF). It reminds me a lot of the whole Catholic church fiasco where the perverted clergymen were touching little boys and the higher ups knew about it and tried to cover it up. Sidenote: I predict Joe Paterno will be dead in six months.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching over this whole thing concerning Jerry Sandusky/Joe Paterno and I'm slowly coming to some conclusions. Background (see chart): there was an eyewitness (McQueary) to Sandusky having anal sex with a 10 year old boy in the Penn State showers. This witness told Joe Paterno (head football coach and college football icon) and Joe told the athletic director Tim Curley and vice president Gary Schultz who in turn told Penn State president Graham Spanier.

So, we have five people with knowledge of the particular incident: one is an eyewitness and four others who heard about the story almost immediately after it happened. What comes out of it? Nothing. To me, the sole responsibility of reporting the incident falls on Mike McQueary. He witnessed Sandusky raping a 10 year old. He is the one that has to have the balls to come forward and report it to the police. What should have happened but didn't was Paterno and the others encouraging McQueary to go public and standing behind him every step of the way. It was their moral obligation as human beings. It's almost like the guy witnessed a murder, told his bosses about it and everybody decided to sweep it under the rug. Horrible story.

I was interested in this guitar pedal on the Gear Page so I emailed the guy and asked him if he had the box. When pedals are sold new they usually come in a nice little box along with the operating instructions etc. So the guy writes me back and says' "What's the box? the original package? if so, yes I have it." You know, I really shouldn't be upset but what kind of fucking response is that? What's the box? Really? It's pretty common nomenclature pal. Box? Package? What's the fucking difference? All he had to say was yes, I have the box and I would have bought it right there but since he came back with some douche bag answer I think I'll pass. I emailed another guy last night who had a popular pedal 'in new condition'. I said I would take it so he wrote me back saying he wouldn't be able to ship until Thursday because he had loaned it out to a friend. Sorry, but I'm not paying for anything that is currently loaned out to one of your friends. There's no telling how it's going to be returned and I didn't want to take the risk. I wrote back and said to contact me when you get it back and I'll probably buy it. He wrote back saying other people wanted to buy it and I said go ahead. Fucking assholes.

Random thoughts...Steve Jobs dead at 56. I think anyone with a brain could just look at the guy and tell he was sick but it's still kind of a shock that he's gone. If anything, it goes to show that pancreatic cancer is a ruthless killer. Think about it for a second, the guy had the financial resources to retain the best doctors and the best care in the entire world and still succumbed to the disease after only a few short years. He was at the cutting edge of the technological field but sadly the medical field is still way behind. I was never a Mac-fag but I do love me some Ipods (except for the new ones lol). It makes me wonder if people still use dedicated mp3 players or do they just use their phones to listen to music.You really don't hear much about Ipods anymore. I guess since I'm using an Ipod that means everyone else has moved on to the next big thing. I always seem to be a few years behind all the youngsters. I don't think Steve Jobs killed music as a physical medium but he sure put the nail in the coffin ie. what's a CD? Everyone will remember him for the Iphone but I really think the Ipod was the big one. It helped open the door for the Iphone. I mean really, isn't the Iphone just a giant Ipod that happens to make phone calls?

Great article here and a great debate in the comments section about a fan at a Cleveland Browns football game who got kicked out for excessive standing during the game. The debate mostly revolves around two groups: the sitters/occasional standers who paid for their seats and want to use them vs. the hardcore standers who think because it's a football game, you're supposed to stand. I actually feel sorry for the normal people who get stuck behind these obsessive douchebag fans who feel the need to stand up the whole game. It's a domino effect, one guy standing in front means the two people behind him can't see so now they have to stand. The three people sitting behind the two people can't see so now they have to stand and so on and so on. Check this one out. <--Two kids get stuck behind these two assholes so now they have to stand just to see. On a sidenote, the worst of the worst is the super fan wearing some kind of tall headgear. What a dick. Ok, I take it back, the worst of the worst is the person who brings some kind of sign to the game. Yeah, they need to be shot. They're constantly holding it above their heads so they can see perfect but the people behind them are like wtf?

I wanted to post a quick picture of the Tele project before it gets too far along. All I've done is attach the neck and install the tuners. The actual wiring is going to suck donkey dicks. It should look a exactly like this when finished but without spending $4400....more like $700-ish.

I just finished walking the dog and as I was coming up the driveway I noticed an incredible looking moon just peaking over the roof of my house. I ran inside, grabbed my camera (all the while dragging my dog with me) and cracked off a few of what I thought were going to be the best photos ever. Uhhhh, how about no. I got inside, checked them out and they were all terrible lol. If I could have gotten the camera to photograph what I saw then it would have been great. Everything was all overexposed and it looked like daytime and the moon was all sun looking. I had to edit the shit out of the above photo just to get it in the neighborhood of reality and even then it looks like shart. I tried a few different settings that the internet suggested but they still sucked. I just can't get it to focus. Another thing, I need to learn how to adjust the camera in the dark.

Pictured above are a few sports inspired Pharaoh Fuzzes using color combinations from the teams in the 2011 Stanley Cup finals. I was interested in getting a custom one made for myself so I emailed the guy who owns the company and told him if he could make me one in tarheel blue , I would buy it (wikipedia actually has the color coded as #56A0D3, not #709DC4). He quickly responded telling me he could probably swing it but to email his design guy just to make sure. So I forwarded my request to the design guy and he emailed me back with an example of something I might be interested in purchasing. Uhh, how about no.

So in order to explain to this guy exactly what I wanted I actually drew one up in Illustrator. I thought it was pretty good. He hasn't emailed me back yet lol.

*Just a quick update. The guy emailed me back and said his supplier doesn't carry carolina blue enclosures but he had white enclosures and he could do the graphic in blue. So really, he could do it but with the colors transposed. I just assumed he painted his own enclosures. I don't know if I should do it. I just edited my pedal graphic to see what it would look like. Hmm, I think it looks pretty sweet. He doesn't carry white knobs so the black ones will have to do for now.

What I'm trying to say is that Mr. Perfect can't be all that perfect. There's no way that all the girls he's dated are crazy. A majority yes, lol, but not all of them. Hollywood is weird though. They get in serious relationships with people who live really far away. Take the Jesse James and Kat Von D relationship as an example. She lives in LA and he lives in Texas. Yeah, good luck with that relationship. I can barely hold together a relationship in the same zip code let alone in a different state.

I've been getting packages delivered to my home and I always get these notes in my mailbox that say 'attempted delivery but nobody was home' type things so I decided to start getting things delivered to the office. Lo and behold, they deliver my package on a Saturday when there is nobody fucking here so the shit for brains leaves it on the porch and it gets stolen. We have these humongous mailboxes right outside the front door. Why he didn't just put it in there is beyond me. 200 bucks down the drain. Another thing, why would some asshole steal something like that? What are the astronomical chances that what's inside the box will be of any interest to the thief? Do mail thieves use guitar pedals? Now what is he going to do with it? Pawn it? I swear I hate people. The less I have to deal with them the better.

Strymon's Timeline delay machine. The much anticipated pedal was released on 07/05 and the first build quickly sold out in about 10 minutes. I managed to get one and it arrived on my doorstep today. First impressions were very positive. It sounded incredible but the userface and navigation just seemed way too complicated (probably due to old age). Also, two speed knobs were real wobbly. I thought I was the only one but others online described them as being flimsy and loose as a 12yr olds tooth about to fall out. Needless to say, this was a bit unsettling. It sounds great with lots of delay options but the navigation blows. Meh, what are ya gonna do? I sold it, LoL. Oh yeah, I forgot to add, that sucker cost $460. Considering it's sold out and in such high demand I could have gotten more for it but I decided to sell at cost and pay it forward.

I was thinking about getting a pair of these Nike Lebron 8 V.2 Lows because they look bad-ass but after taking a second look I think I'm going to pass. The reason is based on my experience with a similar pair of Nike's and it's also shown in the picture above if you look closely. What kills the shoe for me is the over sized tongue. It's too tall and when you pivot forward it digs into your shin. Look at the picture and notice the tongue is at least 2" above the highest point of the shoe. Now the guy in the pic has his laces loosened. Why? Because if he tightened his laces the tongue would be pressed up against his shin and an uncomfortable rubbing would occur when he walked. That stitching along the edge of the tongue is not soft. It is firm almost to the point of being abrasive. So, while I think the shoe looks amazing I just can't warrant purchasing at this time because of comfort issues. Plus, I wear footie socks and that stupid tongue would really dig into me. Check out that back foot in the pic with the shadow. Grrrr!!! He's going to need a band-aid.

Update Scanner: one of the coolest Firefox add-ons I've used in a while. It monitors and notifies you of any changes to a web page. For example, I've been looking for this rare guitar pedal and there is only one US retailer that sells it. Of course it's sold out but I can monitor the page and a pop up window will notify me when it's back in stock. Pretty cool.

I watched Clash of the Titans (2010) last night and thought it was ok.. The best thing in the movie was that hot tomato Gemma Arterton. The guy playing the lead looked like some college frat guy. He's the only one in the movie with a shaved head. Everyone else has long hair and beards. They should have gotten someone else to play the part. Special effects were too over the top and detracted from the story. Instead of watching this turn, watch the 1981 classic Clash of the Titans with Harry Hamlin. Such a great flick.

I'm Just a Cat and I'm Doing Cat Stuff...Whut!!! (Music Video)

I thought of something I need for dog: a ramp for the outside deck stairs and one for the car too? I'm thinking something like this for the deck. I'm not sure about the car. He gets up and down stairs ok but I think it would be so much easier on his body if he had a comfortable ramp to walk up and down. He has really short legs and if he's tired you can tell he really hates mustering up the concentration needed to jump down three consecutive stairs that also happen to be pretty steep.

PARALLEL MIXED DELAYS IN THE MK II BOARD - The delay system inside and outside the Mk II board is very interesting. People always wonder how David gets his smooth delay sounds. David often uses two delays. Stacking one delay after another in your signal chain can degrade your tone because your original signal travels through, and is altered by, two delay circuits before coming out the other end. Also, two delays in line, while useful for some double tap delay effects, means that one delay creates repeats that are then repeated again by a second delay, which can create a messy delay sound. David's setup in the Mk II board is very different.

Inside the board is a two mode delay. The first mode is a Boss DD-2 digital delay, with controls located in the Delay 1 section. Controls are identical to the old Boss DD-2/DD-3 delay. L/M/S (shown in the board diagram above) represent long, medium, and short delay time modes. David has tick marks for only long and short positions. DTM is delay time. F/BK is feedback, or the number of echo repeats. Knob settings shown above correspond to a Boss DD-2 set at approximately 440ms delay with feedback/echo repeats set at 80%. The red knob marked DLY in the Delay Masters section is a mix knob for the DD-2.

The second mode of the delay circuit is the T.E.S. This is meant to simulate the warm, limited bandwidth sound of an old analog tape echo delay by rolling off the high frequencies gradually wth each echo repeat. The on/off switch for the TES circuit switch is labeled B/W on the board, for bandwidth, and the B/W knob in the Delay Master section is to control the amount of roll off the TES applies to the DD-2 echo repeats. The blue MXR knob is a mix knob for the external MXR digital delay.

There are foot switches to turn the delay on (Delay 1), switch to the T.E.S. circuit (B/W), and switch on the external MXR digital delay (MXR). To maintain the best possible signal quality, these delays are mixed parallel with the original signal. This keeps the original dry signal from being altered when running through the delay circuits by splitting off a separate signal to the delays, while the original signal is allowed to run though the other effects on the board, then mixing the delayed signals back with the original dry signal at the end of the signal chain before it hits the amplifier. The signal splits three ways - a dry signal, a DD-2/TES signal set for 100% echo repeats only (meaning no dry signal, only the repeats), and an MXR signal set to 100% echo repeats only. These are then mixed together inside the board with the red and blue mix control knobs you see in the Delay Masters section. By having the two delays in separate signal chains, one delay does not repeat the other. This allows David to get the benefits of two delays, each with different delay times, creating a huge delay sound without very noticeable echo repeats. At times it has the feel of reverb, but without the negative tone altering affect reverb causes. The unique characteristics of each delay remain intact, and are nicely blended together with the pristine dry signal before they hit the amplifier.

So after driving myself crazy over the past few years trying to learn about guitar modeling and recording through my computer I finally decided to buy myself a Line 6 UX1. This units main purpose is to act as a link between the guitar and the PC. Once the guitar is connected to the computer it is pretty easy to access software packages that emulate a ton of different guitar sounds. This is where the fun begins. Right now I'm testing out three different guitar software programs: Pod Farm (included with the UX1), Amplitube 3 and Guitar Rig 4. I think I'm gravitating more towards Amplitube 3 mostly because of the way it's laid out and the huge amount of custom presets included in the software. I've never been more excited about playing guitar. Sidenote: the thing that makes me mad is that people have been using this stuff for years and I'm just now getting into it.

When it rains it pours. I just finished getting a new heat pump for the house and now the refrigerator has died. Sheesh, what's next? The frickin' roof collapses? *Roof please don't collapse. Step one, I suppose, is to get a repairman over to fix it. He'll probably tell me the compressor is bad or it's on its last leg. The following choice will be presented: pay for costly repairs or get a new fridge altogether. Note to self, take milk to work in the morning.

A guy on Ebay is asking $1,900 for his Korina Santana. I'm going to sell mine too but my price will be significantly lower. I'm thinking around $1,500. Hell, that's all I have in it so why get greedy. No one is going to buy that guy's guitar (I'm keeping my eye on it just in case).

I'm not sure why I keep dumping all this money into analog guitar stuff when I should be going digital. I think it's an age thing.

I told myself I'm not going to buy any more Air Jordans, even though this new release is frickin' sweeeet. I could have gotten a pair early Sat. morning in my size but when I checked again that afternoon they had already sold out. I'm actually going to spend this afternoon getting my old AJ's together and preparing them to sell on Ebay. This weekend has been all about cleaning out the closets. Here are some pedals I've acquired over the past few weeks through trading over at TGP. Some good deals and some not so good. I guess it all evens out. The third pedal from the left (lunar module) I had to order direct from the manufacturer with a build time of two to three months. When I put down my deposit I jokingly asked about a custom graphic thinking I wouldn't get a response. When they emailed me a deposit received it included a note that said, "what did you have in mind?". Kewl.

EVH Custom Guitar. That guitar is sick. Unfortunately, I'm priced out of the market at four grand.

Great start to this week after hearing the news that Osama Bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan by US special forces. I like to think it went down a lot like the end of Scarface. I love that they used the Navy Seals instead of just dropping a bomb (the easy way out). Bombs are messy, in-discriminant and often leaves you in more political trouble than it's worth. Took some pictures of my Mccarty over the weekend. I'm hoping to sell it soon along with another guitar I'm not really digging.

I just bought a Lil' Elvis amp head (the top part in the picture) on Ebay. I think I've lost my mind. Actually, I'm fired up. Now I just need a speaker cabinet (the bottom part lol) to play it through.

I've been hanging out at The Gear Page this week trying to find a cool amp. It seems things are a little more hopping over there vs. Ebay. One cool thing about TGP is that people are a lot more open to trades unlike Ebay where cash is king. Right now I'm trying to negotiate a pedal trade with some other cat. Two of mine for two of his.

Personal note: read this and decide if it's worth looking into. *after reading it I think the only thing I haven't done is changing the speaker--> 1. Replace the stock Jensen speaker with a Weber 12F150 if you are into stock Cali sounds or a Celestion G12H30 / Eminence Red Fang if you want a nice British twist.

As usual, I find my guitar sound lacking in the tone department. The thing is, I have an amp that plays beautiful cleans but it it just doesn't come close to that vintage Marshall sound that I currently crave. Do I need another amp? I've pretty much run the gamut of guitars and pedals and my sound is still the same. I think I'm going to move away from guitars and focus more on amps. I've noticed a lot of pro players have two amps, a Fender for cleans and a Marshall type for leads. I have the Fender part but I've been going crazy the past few days trying to find a decent Marshall or equivalent (clone builders are all the rage). I'll keep looking but so far I've come up empty (unlike this person). The thing about Marshall type amps is that they're so frickin' loud. It's near impossible to find something you can play at home volumes and still retain that cranked sound.

I've been slacking off on my blog. I haven't been sleeping well and just generally too tired to do much other than the least amount required to get by.

Signs that the Japanese are calling it quits on any kind of nuclear plant salvage. Once the concrete pumps appear, it's pretty much over. The whole problem is the inability for people to get near the critically damaged areas without exposing themselves to unhealthy amounts of radiation. I just finished playing Dead Space 2 and I gotta say it was is probably the hardest game I've ever played. It was just so intense and draining. Great game but maybe a little too over the top. Graphics were top notch. I'm now playing Call of Juarez...pretty much the polar opposite of Dead Space 2 considering one is horror/sci-fi and the other is based in the old west. I've gone from laser blasters to six shooters.

Just to prove how stupid Esquire magazine is they have a sexiest woman alive (voted on by the editors of the magazine, I guess) and a 'your' sexiest woman alive (as voted on by the readers). Yeah, I'm lost too. Minka Kelly won the 2010 editors choice and Brooklyn Decker won the readers choice. So dumb. They also think Charlize Theron is the sexiest woman alive too albeit from a dated article...or is it Kate Beckinsale? I'm not sure why I'm even talking about Esquire. They're such douches. Fuck'em.

I bought a Fulltone Plimsoul last week and I've barely had time to mess with it but my initial impression was very positive. It does exactly like the ad says, "offers both overdrive and distortion options in one pedal." I can't wait to tinker with it some more this weekend. Guitar pedals are frickin fun. That's all there is to it. I want to try a Wampler pedal next. I hear lots of good web chatter about his stuff.

My heating and air unit died over the weekend. It will cost $650 to repair or who knows how many thousands to replace. These are expensive times. Actually, it will cost $6k. My year is finished.

I had a dream last night that I won a big golf tournament. I couldn't believe I won and because I haven't played in 5 years and neither could anyone else lol. There was a trophy ceremony where they announced I was the winner and started to show a highlight video. Instead of showing me playing golf they started to play an audio recording of me singing and playing guitar. It was so beautiful. My voice, my playing, it was angelic. In the dream I started crying. The main theme was disbelief I had won the tournament but the music thing but pretty crazy.

Good deals to be had on some Fulltone scratch and dents. I thought about pulling the trigger on a couple but my shopping cart said over $300. I think I'll wait for a scratch and dent sale on the scratch and dents. I do want a new overdrive pedal for some reason. Ok, I caved in and got a Plimsoul.

I still slept like a baby.

I took some great pics last night but when I opened my camera to remove the memory card it hung up and a small plastic corner piece broke off. I lost all the pics *pissed. I had to jump on Amazon late night to order a new one.

This whole Japanese nuclear crisis fascinates me. Currently, they're trying to fill one of the pools that holds spent fuel rods with water (remember what we said below, wet rods good dry rods bad). One way is by dropping water from a helicopter and the other way is by firing water from a riot hose. What does this tell you? Well, it tells me that no one can get near the reactor because of dangerous, if not fatal, radiation levels. How do you repair a damaged nuclear power plant from afar? Robots?

On a lighter note, I used to love the watching the Andy Dick show. The guy is a genius. This ghost hunting bit was my favorite. I remember seeing it and laughing my ass off.

As I've mentioned before I recently got nailed with two traffic tickets. I told my dad about the first one and we got our usual lawyer to take the case. When I got the second ticket I was so embarrassed I decided to keep it a secret and get another lawyer to handle that one. The funny thing is I just found out the court date for my speeding ticket and failure to stop at a stop sign are both on the same day. I guess when they call my name in court it will be to handle both offenses. Of course my dumb-ass will have two lawyers there, one for each offense. I think OJ had fewer lawyers. NOT TOO GOOD!!!

I would hate to see True Grit go home with nothing considering they're nominated in practically every category. I loved that movie. Black Swan, The Kids Are Alright and True Grit were my favorite movies out of the whole Oscar nominated bunch (I still need to see Biutiful and I'm watching Animal Kingdom right now). It's too bad Blue Valentine didn't receive more recognition. It's my sentimental favorite. Michelle Williams did get nominated for best actress but she's going up against the two headed acting juggernaut, Bening and Portman.

Thank goodness my ex-girlfriend's sexual escapades aren't posted all over the web. In the case of Christina Aguilera, I think her and her husband split up only a few months ago. That's the thing about celebrities, they don't waste any time finding new partners. When I say they don't waste any time I mean they usually wait a week or two before sleeping with someone else lol. I've been trying to get my puppy to walk around around my neighborhood block with me but he usually stops constantly to smell blades of grass or just stops and refuses to budge altogether. Luckily, I had a pocketful of treats yesterday and it seemed to work. Unfortunately, I had to walk backwards with my knees bent holding a treat under my dogs nose most of the way but it did seem to keep him moving. All said and done, I'm proud to say that my we made it all the way around the block. Huge. I took him out again today at lunch and we walked around the block again...so cool. I love walking with a dog. I tried to walk him again tonight with no such luck. He was being an ass.

I really like taking my dog to work but when he's here he poots like crazy and the smell is absolutely horrible. I think it's really important that he be here with me for crate training but if he continues to just sit around and stink up the joint then he'll have to chill at home. The breed is famous for it's flatulence.

I've been reading about Apples new media subscription model all morning and frankly I don't really understand it. I guess I'm a dummy when it comes to the whole Apple content community. My only link to Apple is owning an Ipod. I've never given them a dime for anything else.

The King's Speech cleaned up last night at the Bafta Awards (British Academy of Film and Television Arts). Go figure.

I was on the cross-trainer at the gym last night and I was checking myself out in the mirror thinking I looked really different. Yeah, I've lost about 8lbs but I didn't think it would make that much of a difference.

The trailer for the new X-men movie was just released. It looks just as bad as all the other ones.
I watched Due Date last night. I laughed my ass off.

My new pup is a blast but worrisome at the same time. Potty training tends to be the culprit of the most worry followed quickly by general obedience training. It's like you have to be a frickin' mind reader to know when the little bastard has to go to the bathroom. Just give me a sign bro. I'll be happy to take you outside. He's definitely a full time job.

Felt terrible all weekend. I took some medication on an empty stomach Saturday and it's been constant nausea ever since. I've eaten practically nothing. Bleh.

This is baby Gibson sitting on my kitchen counter. He's an awesome French Bulldog. I drove four hours both ways to pick him up on Saturday and I've been exhausted ever since. He's slowly getting acquainted with his new house, new toys and new pack leader. He goes potty on command outside but he doesn't know that going potty inside is bad. He's not eating a lot which makes me a little nervous. He sleeps with me at night but he will have to stay home by himself during the day while I'm at work. We are both very sad about that. Gibson is going to the vet. today at 2:00 for a checkup. I was going to name him Gonzo or Bilbo but finally decided on Gibson.

Poor Minka Kelly. One magazine's 'sexiest woman alive' is another magazine's #99. I know I doubted Minka when she was voted Esquire Magazine's sexiest woman but to call her #99 on Ask Men's list of top 99 women is just a kick in the teeth. To me, she is pretty damn close to perfect. I don't know exactly where she falls on my personal hot list but she is definitely top tier material. I remember when Halle Berry was an automatic top 5, now she's clocking in at an icy #85. Cameron Diaz at #50? Ewww, she's nasty. Olivia Munn at #49? Waaaaay too high. Alessandra Ambrosia is also way too high at 31. Mila Kunis at #2??? Can someone say overrated. Yeah, she had a tiny but great role in Black Swan but that's it. I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with their #1 pick of Blake Lively. She is a bombshell plus I just saw her in The Town and she was great.

When it comes to revolution against dictators, don't expect a lot of US help. Yeah, we talk a mean game against oppressive dictatorships but when push comes to shove we're going to side with the side that sides with Israel and that side my friends is the side of Mubarak. Also, the US could care less about dictators as long as they are friendly to and support the policies of the US and Israeli governments. This whole fiasco in Egypt proves it. The US doesn't care about Egyptian democracy or its people. They only care about friendly governments. The people? Let them eat cake.

This months blog is winding down so I thought I would post demon cat. Love me some demon cat. Maybe it's just talking Japanese.

I wonder if I should try to haggle with the seller on the price of the dog. I'm thinking about making an offer 10% below what they're asking. Would that be insulting or should I just suck it up and pay? It's almost in my nature to ask for a discount.

Selling PRS SC-245 to help finance pooch and all the crap that goes along with it (I got a bidder, sweet!!!). That guitar has been good to me and I know I'll miss it. I have two more I want to sell but first thing's first. The funny thing is, I know exactly what the dog is going to cost but 'all the crap that goes along with it' is a complete mystery to me. I could definitely go minimalist that's for sure or I could go overboard. I think potential vet bills scare me the most.

New Eddie Van Halen guitar looks great. He has been running his own company for the past few years but the only thing he sells is the one guitar and one amp he uses on stage. I'm an Eddie fanboy all the way but I don't really care for that particular guitar. That being said, he's added this new Les Paul inspired guitar to his lineup and it's more to my liking. It has very traditional appointments but with a few modern bells and whistles added into the mix. On a sidenote, can you imagine all the competition for a Les Paul type guitar? What manufacturer out there doesn't make one?

I used to think Dweezil Zappa was a punk but now I really respect the guy. Here's two really cool videos via Guitar Noize. I like the second one better because he talks about his pedal board (a monster). If you look carefully you can spy his PRS signature model in the background but the SG he's playing is badass too.

I watched Hellcats at the gym the other night. Best show ever. Aly Michalka, the only real reason to watch, was also in Easy A.

Trust me when I say that I have looked at a ton of dog breeder websites. Some are very informative but most of them are just god awful (think lots of CAPS LOCK and comic sans). The thing that really creeps me out the most are the show dog people. Given that it's a perfectly harmless hobby they just seem a little weird to me. I can't quite put my finger on it. They even made a movie about it. It's my opinion that for the most part, you're dog is not really all that great but if you show up to enough of these dog shows you'll eventually win, place or show just by playing the odds. Yes, there are some exceptional dogs out there but I think a lot of these show breeders need to come off their high horse. I've been thinking about this stuff for a while now but it all came to a head after seeing the above picture. We have a judge and an official on the left and right, the handler/owner in the middle and I'm not sure about these two burnouts. The guy on the right is a serial rapist and the guy on the left I'm pretty sure wants to eat the dog.

My shoulder has been hurting for a solid month and I'm starting to worry.

Just finished watching Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and I loved it. It was sneaky good because I didn't expect a lot going into it but the movie just kept delivering cool scene after cool scene. Frankly, I was blown away by the style and direction.

I'm feeling a little better today thank goodness.Yesterday sucked bad after having not one but two breakdowns.

Just finished watching Blue Valentine. What a great movie. I cried like a baby at the end (picture Pacino in Godfather III) and it wasn't because of my crippling depression and multiple medications. It was about love and heartache and right now my heart aches. Serious acting skills too from Ryan Gossling and Michelle Williams *****. Next on this weekends movie cavalcade will be The King's Speech. *I also watched I Spit on Your Grave. A sadistic horror movie but given the genre it wasn't too bad. Sarah Butler plays the victim in the first half of the movie and then she gets her revenge in the second half. She is adorable. I think I'll make a blog banner out of that great movie poster.

I was reading The Onion a few minutes ago and it was hilarious. Why am I not reading it more?

I just got a speeding ticket. Sooooo Mad! 49 in a 35. What a fucking douche this guy was. Actually he was nice (I was the douche lol) but he was basically giving tickets in a speed trap. He said, 'we've been getting complaints about speeding on this road.' I said 'the people complaining about the speeders aren't complaining about me. They're complaining about the people going 70 through here at night.' I need to calm down. I think I'm having a heart attack. Speeding, what a joke. I probably should have handled it like this but I couldn't do it. I did just the opposite. I'm sure he'll remember me for being an ass but I'm not going to suck up to him. I have too much rage. Usually it's held in check pretty good but when it comes to the surface, look out. Bad things, man. I have so much to talk about with my shrink on Tuesday it's ridiculous. I think I may need to schedule in a few more sessions because once a month ain't cuttin' it. Time for maximum xanax.

I had a nightmare about a past girlfriend that was a little too real. Now I'm all depressed.

Myspace fires half of it's staff as traffic to the site continues to wane. Here's my quick opinion on Myspace. In the beginning, Myspace gave you everything from a design and communications standpoint. There was no such thing as a private profile and you had the freedom to do practically whatever you wanted with your 'space'. Unfortunately, those freedoms were slowly taken away mostly due to malicious people ie spammers, hackers, script kiddies. As Myspace pulled more and more design and communication freedoms, the site got less enjoyable.

Plug a guitar into your Ipad. The video starts off slow but picks up halfway through when the guy starts using the software and touching the screen to make adjustments. The effects (across the top) look kinda generic but the Fender amps across the bottom look sweet.

Anyone who has read this blog in the past few months knows I'm interested in getting a dog. I've loosely narrowed it down to either an Italian Greyhound or a French Bulldog (or maybe both). Breeders close to me, geographically, are slim and none so you really have to do make some decisions on how you're going to acquire one of these dogs. If you're going to deal with the locals then you're going to have to wait for the bulldog because Christmas wiped them all out. If you're not willing to wait, you need to branch out and search the internet. The worst part of the whole process is trying to decide whether the internet breeders are good honest people or they're a filthy puppy mill. I've been reading a lot about these puppy mills lately and frankly I find the whole 'pet industry' disturbing. There is just no way to determine who's trying to breed good dogs and who's just in it to make a buck off the back of the mothers. They seem to sell themselves pretty well online but deep down I feel they're all rotten lol. So here's what I've found so far:

Italian Greyhound - Fayetteville, one available and a litter on the way.
French Bulldog - Greenville, *contacted...'a new litter within the next 6 months'.
French Bulldog - Wake Forrest, litter on the way. Brindle is not my first choice of color.
French Bulldog - Bentonville, litter on the way.

These breeders are located close by and would be the best option to deal with in the future. The next closest bulldog breeder (and there are a few) is located in western NC. This is a haul but I guess it would be possible. The least desirable option would be to buy a dog from a breeder out of state and have it flown in to the local airport. This is something I do not want to do if I can help it. After looking at the big picture I've changed my tune about the rarity of local breeders. It seems I do have choices.

Up until the point where Jared Loughner started cracking off shots at a political gathering, society judged him as being perfectly sane human being and perfectly sane human beings can easily get guns. That's just the way it is and that's the way it's always going to be. So given that information it seems ridiculous to introduce any new gun legislation when it will only be viewed as symbolic in nature and would never have actually prevented the Arizona tragedy. I don't think I'm revealing any big secret when I say there are some seriously disturbed individuals out there. I think it's just part of the human psyche. Society is kind of like Yin and Yang, bloods and crips and Duke vs. Carolina. This is not a Utopian society we live in, it's a society of passives and aggressives...I was going to write more but I lost my train of thought lol.

Uggh, my stomach is really upset. I had a protein shake late last night and to tell you the truth I've been really gassy all morning. I mean noxious fumes have been emitting from my body. I've been really casual about the smell because it's rare anyone comes in my office but this morning was different. Not two seconds after I released the most vile flatulence known to mankind our new secretary walks into my office and hands me some files someone had just dropped off. The horrifying part is, she closes her eyes, raises her nose to the air, takes a huge whiff and says, "your office always smells sooo good." I seriously thought I was going to die right there on the spot. She thought she was smelling the coffee pot but I know she was smelling raw protein poot. I've never been so embarrassed. I quickly shooed her out of the office.

The National Society of Film Critics named Jesse Eisenberg best actor for his role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network (which also won for best picture). You know, I can live with the Social Network as best picture because the film is great but Eisenberg as best actor is a travesty. I mean who else was nominated? On a sidenote, I watched 127 Hours over the weekend and it was great but not otherworldly.

I was going to congratulate Jesse Eisneberg on all his best actor nominations for the Social Network until I saw him in Zombieland where he plays the exact same character. The only bright spot in Zombieland, other than Woody Harrelson and a small Bill Murray cameo, was Emma Stone who is getting great reviews for her work in Easy A, which I saw last weekend. It was a little teeny bop-ish but she was great. There was a hot blond in Easy A named Alyson Michalka. She is insane in the membrane hawt but she's like 20. Let's see her when she's 40 eh?? That's my new crotchety old man saying when I see someone young and good looking. 'Let's see 'em when they're 40' *shakes fist in air.

Me: You ask a vague question you get a vague answer. What exactly is 'really fat'? You assume that I have experience with other Gibson custom shop guitars that I can use as a basis for comparison. I do not. This is the only custom shop LP I've ever owned. I'm not a dealer, I'm not a connoisseur of Gibson necks nor do I care to be. Gibson's literature has listed this guitar as a 'C' profile and you're asking me to define what that means. Sorry, I can't. I think I have described this guitar above and beyond what other sellers would do and provided the best information and photos I can. Take it or leave it.

I overslept this morning so I was late getting into work. My dad thought I had quit because of the whole dog brouhaha. Funny. I figured out why I was late. When the cleaning was here yesterday she cleaned my alarm clock and screwed up the radio station so all I heard was static when the alarm went off.

Howard announced one morning that he had indeed signed a new contract for another five years but Sal was late for work that day and missed the announcement. Howard played a prank and made a phony announcement that he was quitting. Sal loses it and hilarity ensues.

I just told my father/boss that I'm thinking about getting a dog and he told me I couldn't bring it to work. If I can't bring the dog to work then he's basically saying you can't get a dog because leaving the dog at home all day is not an option. Ok, so I'm mad. It's not like it would be a large dog. It's not like it would leave the boundaries of my office unsupervised. It's not like professional training hasn't been factored into the equation. I can't even put it into words. As my boss he has every right to say no but as my father I feel like a five year old asking his permission to get a dog, him saying no and then my crying about it. I guess I'm an idiot for thinking he might be accepting of the whole idea. I was kind of mean when he said no. I told him I didn't want to be alone and miserable like him lol. That was terrible but truthful in a way. I'm sick of this shit, really. I think I'm having a nervous breakdown and a mid-life crisis all wrapped into one. When it comes down to it I have two choices and the first one is obviously to not get a dog and the second choice is to improvise my way out of the problem. Can I get a dog and keep it at home while I go to work everyday? It was not my first choice but my cleaning lady seems thinks so. I could probably raise the puppy at home until he gets a little older and then slooooowly introduce him into the office environment. Very good discussion here. One thing I've learned is that if you're not going to be with your dog 24/7, there's going to be haters hatin'. Sooo, if I go to work at 8:00, my mom checks on the dog at 10:00, I get home for lunch at 12:00 and stay until 1:00, mom checks on dog again at 3:00 (yeah, pushing my luck on this one) and I get home around 5:00...I think that's pretty good. Not ideal but pretty darn good. Mom will be key. Cleaning lady will help too. I'm sure. Shit, I could pay her to check in now and then.

It is my opinion that Pres. Obama has generally done a pretty good job but he really needs to keep his eye on the price of oil in 2011. It has risen to a price that people (like me) and the press are starting to talk about it in a negative way. When it comes to oil and gas prices, no news is good news.

Starting the day off with a cartoon.

I've decided to sell my Les Paul 'Blueberry' and today was photo day. Hopefully I can get an auction up and running quickly so everyone with new Christmas money can see it. This is going to be my last Les Paul because frankly, I don't like them. It is very important that I come to terms with that statement. Yes, they are classic beauties and soooo much music that I love has been created by people playing them but I've owned three now and none of them really blew me away. Yes, they have that sound but it's a guitar based on a 60yr old design and because they're so oldschool they really don't play all that great. Do I need to buy a fourth, fifth and sixth to continue proving that point? No, I don't but that doesn't mean I'm abandoning the chase for that Les Paul sound. It's kinda like the Gibson banjo I used to have. It sounded so good and cracked like no other but it played like garbage.

Weekend movie watching included the Social Network and Inception. Both were pretty good but I think I like the Social Network was the better of the two. It's hard to beat a true story of young Harvard geniuses who become billionaires.

Cute French Bulldogs for sale. Too bad they're in Va. I did manage to find a breeder in Greenville but right now they don't have anything for sale. I was looking at some French Bulldog prices, $2,000??? Surely you can't be serious?

Hands down the best video of 2010.

One of our employees gave me a rockin' box of baked goods for Christmas. Banana bread, oatmeal cookies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cookies w/ vanilla chips and brownies. I had no idea she was such a great baker.

My Christmas invention goes a little something like this: it's a window decoration giving the illusion of a lighted tree from the road. You would start with a placard or thin board painted green in the shape of a tree with lights and garland all over it. It sounds simple and it is but to the casual passerby at night it would look like a Christmas tree in the window. What I'm really saying is that I'm too lazy to put up a real tree in the window so I've created a shortcut.

I watched Black Swan last night. Amazing movie. Natalie Portman is great and that Mila Kunis is a hot little number too. I think The Fighter is more of a mainstream great movie and will rack up all the awards but the Black Swan is definitely a contender in it's own right. According to this chart, the Social Network is blowing everything else away. I heard it was really good but I haven't seen it. Maybe I'll try to track it down tonight.

I'm liking these Tsovet watches a lot but I'm afraid in reality they're going to be too big.

My new guitar. It's a limited run from PRS made from korina wood. It's basically a Santana model but without the fancy top or bird inlays on the neck (which in this particular case I didn't want to pay for anyway). Also included in the deal was a pair of 57/08 pickups which people say are very nice and the original Mira pickups were thrown in also. I thought it was a steal and to quote the guy I bought it from, "gosh, losing my butt, but....." It has everything I'm looking for right now: 24 frets, 24.5" scale, premium pickups and reasonably priced. The guy also said it was in immaculate condition which will help when/if I decide to resell. Sidenote: I just want to say that I have been going crazy all week trying to find a nice 24 fret guitar. I think I have chosen wisely. The Santana specs are definitely the best fit for me right now. I only wish I could afford one that was all tricked out. A hard tail would have been nice too but who's complaining?

I had one of those classic Chuck moments at the gym tonight. I was walking on the treadmill for a few minutes and I started to get really hot. I slowed down the treadmill so I could take off this hooded sweatshirt I was wearing. As I was taking it off the hoodie got stuck on my huge head and I couldn't get it off. Of course while all this is happening I'm still walking on the treadmill except now I can't see. I started to lose my balance and I couldn't tell which way I was walking. I fell off the back of the treadmill but thank god a wall was right there to catch me otherwise I would have busted it. I tried to play it off all cool like but I'm sure it looked bad. Luckily no one was watching at the time.

This is a shoe that unfortunately will leave tread marks all over your carpet much like the Reebok Zig...still sweet looking though. Get rid of the blue/red sole and I would probably jump on it. I'm a sucker for a black and white runner.

I think I'm having an anxiety attack. These people around the office are just driving me crazy. The new lady is asking people how to delete dead icons on her computer. Now I don't claim to be any kind of computer expert but come on. Don't we have a computer literacy prerequisite around here? I'm tired of being the computer janitor for these dumb-asses.

Wesley Snipes found guilty of three misdemeanors for failing to file tax returns. He will serve three years in jail, one consecutive year for each misdemeanor, starting this month. I blogged about this back in 2006 saying he was going to go down in a fiery ball of flames and I was right. The hammer did fall hard on Wesley but I don't agree with the verdict. He shouldn't do any jail time. That is ridiculous. The government should simply collect any taxes owed by Mr. Snipes and fine him heavily to cover expenses.

I ate a candy apple for lunch. It was delicious but now I have to poop.

I need a pair of warm slippers to keep under my desk at work. My feet are freezing! I trucked on over to Zappos and looked at some sweet Uggs but they are sooo expensive. I guess I'll start at the high end and work my way towards a pair from TJ Maxx for around $10. If I can find a pair that looks nice enough to wear around the office all the better. My mother called yesterday asking for some Christmas ideas. Maybe I should let her get me some slippers. Can I trust her with that kind of responsibility?

A Game of Thrones premieres on HBO in 2011. *required watching. A few good hi-res photos. The series is based on some of the best books I've ever read. Word to your mother.

Has the phone camera killed photography? I've been pondering this for a long time and I think it has. I have to give props up front because there a lot of high quality photos online but most of it is just garbage. Take this photo of Alexandra Ambrosia at a recent Victoria's Secret show or this candid pic of Gisele Bundchen. Both could have been an amazing photos except they were taken on crummy cam phones. I think what I'm getting at is the quality of amateur photos these days doesn't reflect what you would expect to see from 21st century technology. It's almost like the state of photography is worse than it's ever been.

The Cowan X7 could be a winner. Large capacity, multi-formats and long battery life make this one worth looking into.

One thing that sparks my interest is the TSA and their gauntlet of airport checkpoints. Let's take a look at this for just a second. You've got the standard metal detector, the removal of the shoes, the high tech x-ray machines and the now famous aggressive pat downs. If you're trying to get some kind of blade or a standard bomb with a detonator onto a plane one would think the metal detector would suffice for catching such objects, right? So what are all the other technologies and inconveniences trying to detect? Isn't that what all the fuss is about? Things that standard metal detectors do not pick up? The answer is this: any inconvenience experienced in an airport due to full body x-ray machines and full body pat downs can be attributed directly to explosives made from non-metallic substances such as gels, liquids or powders. That's what all the fuss is about.

My whole sleep cycle is so screwed up. I can't even begin to explain it. Just imagine the typical sleep cycle of a vampire. Right now it's daytime, I'm at work and my skin is on fire.

I'm reading the best book right now. The Doomsday Book by Connie Wilson. I'm about 2/3 the way through and it's one of the better time travel books out there. Actually, it's light on the whole science side of time travel and heavy on story and characters. Good stuff.

I just opened up my new Gibson SG to change the pickups (about a 2hr job) and noticed the old style wiring system was completely gone and replaced with a standardized circuit board. Ok, I barely know anything about wiring but I know zero about circuit boards. Jeez, how did I get myself into this mess? Long story short, instead of connecting the new pickups to the pots with solder (hey, I can do that!) you have to buy these little plastic connectors and plug the new pickups into the board. Uggh. I don't even know what I'm talking about really. All I know is that I need couple of twenty cent connectors and a crimper in order to get this party started. I really could just gut the whole thing and install an oldschool wiring harness but that would cost more than I really want to put into it. I'm adding these needed part numbers just for personal reference:

I have an irrational belief that I need a 24 fret guitar so I've been looking at different models all morning trying to pick a winner. So far the best one I've seen is a Music Man Silhouette.

This picture perfectly describes what happened to me last night at the gym. It was 10:30 at night and the place was practically empty. There are maybe twenty elliptical machines all in a row and I'm on the second one from the left. What happens next? This big fat lady comes over and gets on the one right beside me. All of sudden I'm very uncomfortable and cursing under my breath. Can I at least get a two machine courtesy buffer? The logical thing to do would be to use a machine on the far right or at a minimum the middle...seriously?

I like Bradley Cooper. He's a good looking guy and a decent actor but what is with the facial growth? He has it in every single picture like it's his look or something. Change it up a bit will ya? Close to finishing this little music project. I basically turned my TV and stereo into a big jukebox. The small print on the TV is a little hard to read but I think it's just me in need of an eye exam. It sounds incredible. I installed a digital soundcard in the computer and everything is controlled with a wireless mouse and keyboard. An internet connection would be nice but I'm in no hurry for that.

Back in April of this year I had two medical procedures. The company that administered the procedures billed me under two separate accounts: 31480 and 314801 @ $125 each. I paid both bills promptly noting the account numbers in the memo. The company keeps sending me a bill for $125 saying I haven't paid for 314801 and sent it to a collections agency. Yes I have paid it you stupid fuck. You just posted the check to the wrong account. Their records show total payments of $250 to one account and $0 to the other. I have called these fools three times (or more) explaining this and they haven't done anything about it. They say they will each time but they never do. I called them again this morning and they act like it's the first time I've ever called. They see the problem but they always fail to do anything about it. These people are driving me crazy! I'm tired of all these slackers.

I'm scouring the country for an 8gb 4th gen. Ipod Nano. <--no luck there. I settled for a refurbished 5th gen. for $99 from the Apple store. It has a one year warranty and comes with a new case and battery. What the heck. I saved $50 by not buying new. With a little luck it will pay off.

What the fuck has Obama done so far? Seriously, I'm not a big Obama fan but the alternatives really scare me. What do people lose sleep over? Jobs, money, bills, debt, medical care etc. Everything else is just piddly stuff to me. The job of the presidency is simply a no win situation.

I just got back from Staples and they have the Kindle. I was this close to getting one. I downloaded a crapload of books last night so I'm ready to roll. I just don't want to pay the local sales tax. While I was there I also looked at some wireless keyboards and stuff like that for my living room jukebox project. Expensive. I saw a cool keyboard and it was $80 by itself and a dumb mouse pad was $5. They had a bunch of cool crap there. I love Staples/Office depot type joints. I think I'll go back and get the Kindle this week...or some alternative. Books a million may have a competitor worth checking out.

I've been going to the gym on a fairly steady basis for about ten years. The sad thing is that other than the time I work out I move around about as much as Christopher Reeve. I start a typical day sitting at the office for eight hours and then go home and sit around some more or nap until I can motivate myself to go work out. After that I cook dinner, sleep and repeat the whole thing. I think I need to even things out somehow. Broaden my horizons.

Zardoz was labeled the #1 'trailer to sniff glue to' over at Maxim. <--added to Netflix instant watch list. I think Connery was trying to break from the Bond typecasting by taking the most fucked up role out there.

I think the guy who bought my guitar is going to stiff me. The auction ended four days ago and no payment has been made. Why would anybody wait so long? Whenever I win an auction I always pay quick so I can get my stuff faster. I'm want to send hate mail but I know I shouldn't...at least not yet. I'll wait until this weekend.

We just bought a new server here at the office and I'm going to take the old one home and turn it into a media computer for my living room. Should be sweet. Mostly it will play music but if I can get a web connection going it should be able to surf the web on the TV screen and play movies through Netflix. One thing I have to do is install a modern sound card(?) so I can get a digital connection to my stereo.

I just had a reality check with my cable bill and it adds up to $1700 a year. That includes digital cable, DVR, HD package and roadrunner. Hmmm. I really think I need to make some changes here because that is ridiculous and it's really cutting into my guitar budget lol. Seriously, I don't even watch TV. I think roadrunner and basic cable is all I need. I wonder how much that would make the bill go down? You would think RR would be around $50 tops and basic cable would be $20? That would be $840 a year saving $860. Sheesh! This digital shite is killing me!

I just read an article on acid reflux and it scared me to death. I think I need to make some changes. Can you explain the “silent” symptoms people can get?Silent, or atypical, acid reflux can cause symptoms such as ~~coughing (including a dry cough),~~ chronic throat clearing, and the sensation of having something stuck in your throat. <--me. I was just checking out some the new PRS guitars on their site and they look sweet! The most interesting to me is the SC58 which is basically a Les Paul rip off but who cares? All guitar makers do it. Show me a guitar company that doesn't make a Strat or Les Paul copy and I'll show you a guitar company that's going out of business. Oh well, back to PRS. The new guitars look great but a couple of them look just the same as other models. For instance, the new DC3 seems to carry the exact same specs as the just released last year 305. Another too close for comfort model is the new NF3. It shares practically the same specs as the swamp ash special. Yeah, there's a couple of differences like body wood here or a pickguard there but they're more or less rehashed older models. Oh well, I'm not going to pick on them too much. I haven't seen any prices yet but I'm sure they'll be through the roof. Forum chatter on the SC58.

I just finished reading the Alice in Wonderland books and I thought they were both terrible lol. It's too 'out there' for kids and too 'out there' for adults. The only thing good to come out of the whole thing is cool art.

I've been taking Protonix for acid reflux and I'm convinced it's the cause of my severe itching. It's mostly on my scalp, hairline and the back of my neck. The medication is the only thing new that's been introduced into my system so I'm going to stop taking it for a while and see what happens. I would rather have my stomach rot from the inside than deal with this itch any longer. It's not natural!

After spending most of the weekend listening to classical music, I managed to learn a few things about the genre as it pertains to me.
1. I don't really like solo piano. Maybe it will grow on me but right now it's sound is way too tinny and sharp like an ice pick. I like the cello which is way more laid back.

2. I do like big orchestras, the cello (mentioned above), opera and these oldschool monkish chant things are pretty cool.

A couple of cool videos of a guy playing the exact model guitar I got for my 40th birthday. Only 25 were made so it makes me wonder if the guy is playing mine (I got #19).

After watching the first few minutes of the movie Vanilla Sky, I noticed I had already seen its foreign equivalent, Abre los ojos. Kinda disappointed considering I got all psyched to see a cool flick and all. The movie was the same thing scene for scene. Penelope Cruz played the same character in both versions.

I started my classical music collection this week even though I don't really listen to classical music (lol). One thing I've noticed so far is the whole classical music file organization thing. It's so much more complicated than rock and roll or jazz. In rock music, the only thing you really have to deal with is the band name, the name of the album and the name of the tracks. Things like that are easy to enter in a labeling program like TagScanner, which is the one I use but a lot of people use MP3Tag. In classical music you have the name of the album, the name of the composer, the name of the conductor, the name of the performers in an opera and the name of a symphony.

I just had a nightmare. I was in New York with friends and got lost. I ended up as a third wheel for Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend. They were about to break up so I thought I had a chance with her lol. We went to dinner and then a party which was both filmed for her show. The boyfriend eventually left and I got all excited but you could tell she was missing him and could care less for me. The boyfriend eventually came back and I think they had makeup sex. Feeling dejected, I left and ran into two friends who I hadn't seen in twenty years. They were both no less than ten feet tall. We talked about their respected growth spurts and I got one of those doctor's office scales so I could measure their height. I found a ladder and measured their heights which was 6'8" and 7'. They sure as hell looked a lot taller than they measured. Later, I walked in front of a department store and cops were suddenly everywhere and told me to GET DOWN. I laid down on the ground and a woman walked out of the store. The cops started yelling at her, a warning shot was fired and the lady threw up her hands and dropped a light bulb which she and had stolen. It seemed like a lot of drama for just a light bulb and I told a cop I would have bought it for her if it would have prevented all this trouble. Next, while trying to find my way back to the hotel, I turned a corner and saw a convertible limousine carrying a monster and a few other people. Everyone was looking at me and telling me to be quiet so I asked what was going on. You would think I had shot someone's dog because everyone freaked out. It seems that I had accidentally walked onto a movie set and ruined an important scene. Oh well, I left that and found my way back to the hotel. It was nighttime and my travel companions had already checked out and caught the plane back home. I still had my room key so I went in and looked around. No note, no nothing. Clothes and luggage were there but they werent' mine or my friends. I had no room and I had missed my flight. Thankfully, I woke up.

I just bought a 2TB external hard drive to store all my jams. My 1TB was juuuuust about full. Now I have the big daddy 2TB as a base unit and two 1TB's for backup. Yeah, it's kind of confusing. On impulse, I bought a pair of Skullcandy Smokin' Buds. They're ok, I guess, but I can't recommend them. I like for my in-ear headphones to fit as tight as a cork in a wine bottle. That way it cancels a lot of outside noise and I don't have to listen to all garbage they play at the gym. These just kind of float in your year not really forming a good seal.

Time: best friend or worst enemy? They either hold it together pretty well or turn into trolls. Juliette Binoche, love her. They should have used Victoria Principal, who was a personal favorite until time and bad plastic surgery ravaged her face. Also in that boat would be my imaginary lady friend Jessica Lange.

It's unfortunate we live in a world of gross stereotyping as not all Americans are Koran burning Terry Jones' and not all Muslims are Muhammad Attas. Why is it that a vile acts perpetrated by small groups of whack jobs always seem to punish the moderates? For years, whites railed against blacks and then it was the straights against the gays and now it seems the Islamic community is the new whipping boy (or let's just say people of middle eastern decent).

Bose, Sennheiser and Monster: they all suck. I think I'm going to try and fix them myself. That way I can shorten the cord a few inches and maybe toughen up the weak connection at the same time. I can do this.

New additions to the music collection: Sinatra's 16 disc 'Silver Box' and Devo's 'this is the DEVO box' 7 disc set. These should keep me busy for a while.

I guess I'll be shopping for a new external hard drive because these two are just about full. One is just a backup of the other so I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to work it all out. I'm thinking a two terabyte main and use the two single terabytes I already have as split backups. One will have all audiobooks and music from A-J and the other will have music K-Z (sound good to me).

I don't even know who this chick is (probably on Glee lol) but she's riding a cruiser and that makes her cool in my book. Basket, fenders, single speed, Chuck Taylor's and a thumb bell. It's all good. I was right about the Glee thing, haaha. Lucky guess. She just looks Glee-ish.

John exaggerated a bit in a recent interview but he hit on a subject that is certainly debatable, whether the internet has destroyed the music business. I guess in many ways it has destroyed the 'traditional' music business but there is still money to be made if you're willing to work. Musicians need to write great material first and then you need to go out and perform live to make your money. It's an act or a show just like the circus or a Broadway play. You can no longer depend on a completed record as your quick path to early retirement (unless you're Eminem). You've got to take your dog and pony show to the masses because while piracy is rampant they haven't yet figured out a way to steal a live experience. Side note: I think I remember BB King on the Letterman show saying he still worked roughly 300+ shows a year. Now that's working for your money.

I've put it upon myself to find the perfect coffee cup. So far I found this one from H for Hannah's Hedy collection (bowls look nice too ;-)). I like the 'roundness' of it and the closed in top. The handle could be an issue. Bone china @ $40ea. As time goes by I will try to list other potential candidates and list some criteria I'm looking for in 'the perfect coffee cup'.

I've had a headache all day and playing lots of nook didn't help. Best so far, 26,960 (23 shots, made 19). I seem to be averaging around 11,000 so I'm not really sure where the 26,000 came from. Right now I'm going to work out, headache and all. I think it's going to be another cardio night as I don't think my head could stand the strain of lifting something heavy. It might explode or something...just got 32,815. I think the trick is to bang in a lot of balls using combos and hitting in the right pockets all while going at breakneck speed.

50 Scariest movies of all time. I may argue with the order but all in all not a bad list. What I don't understand is why all these web lists these days are one entry per page and you have to click an arrow to go to the next one. I can't stand that. It's so slow and tedious. Whenever I see that particular list layout it makes me NOT want to look at it. It must have something to do with advertising dollars and page hits (or just shitty design trends). If you list everything on one page then you only get one hit and a nickel. If you get 50 page hits then you get 50 nickels. Oh well, I don't know if that's true but it just seems like terrible design to me. Here's how I like my lists. I like me some scrolling bitches.

Winner of the Ibanez Jem design contest. 'Ibanez will be manufacturing two JEM guitars featuring Alessandro’s design– one for Alessandro and one for Steve (Vai)'. 'Although elements were taken from a free art website, much of the design was based on his ingenuity'- yeah, right. What they're basically saying is the winner stole the graphics for the design...not cool. Sweet guitar nonetheless. If I had known there was a contest maybe I could have whipped something up and, at least, contended.

After being on the waiting list for 5 months I finally received the two pedals I ordered from Skreddy: a Pig Mine and a Lunar Module. Both are Big Muff inspired fuzz pedals. Too bad I'm not really into fuzz right now lol...but 5months ago I was champing at the bit.

I keep seeing really weird Star Wars stuff coming out of the Adidas camp: Boba Fetts, Jabba the Huts, R2-D2/C3PO (should've made two separate shoes instead of that yin/yang bs. I could sport some R2's), Han Solo's, Chewbacca shoes and to along with it a frickin' Chewbacca jacket. Cool site btw.

Made a little headway this morning by transferring everything over to photoshop. I'm winging it on the clouds by starting off white and dabbling in grays little by little. So far I haven't really dabbled much. Will continue to dabble.

I bought a Strymon flanger pedal not too long ago and now the company sends me emails whenever they release new products. Case in point: the El Capistan Tape Echo. Their videos demonstrate some very trippy delay sounds (I'm thinking 'Whole Lotta Love") but it seems overly complicated. For tweakers only. I think I'll keep my little three knob MXR for now.

Katie Clearly. I have no idea who she is but as soon as I saw this pic I instantly felt sorry for her. She's trying to enjoy a nice run but she can't because her headphone cord is so frickin' long. Look at it. She battling it lol. She has to hold it in order to keep it from bouncing all over the place and pulling her earbuds out. Been there done that. First of all, get rid of that dumb armband. That's half of the problem. Just tuck your Ipod into your waste band, hold it in your hand or put in your pocket (if you have one). All my workout shorts have pockets. It's mandatory. That will help take up some of the slack. Then get one of these doodads or this. Clip the cord to your t-shirt or sports bra. There, was that so hard? You lessened the slack on a lengthy cord and reduced earbud pull from bounce. Word. Then again, maybe she knows something I don't considering she's in a lot better shape than I am. Let's see her when she's 40 :-)

Sidenote: There are currently three movies playing I want to see: Salt, Toy Story III and Inception. Unfortunately, I won't see any of these in the theaters because the people sitting around me are all going to be jerks.

Right now I'm playing Screw the Nut. It's kinda linear and bland. On the other hand, Plants vs Zombies is great (I may buy the full version). Now it's bubble tanks arena and I'm stuck on level 21. This seriously blows. I've come to the conclusion that level 21 is impossible. I've tried it 20 different ways and they've all failed. Of course, on my 21st incarnation, my tank kicked total ass and I finished the game in two minutes.

I just browsed this NYT's article about how ebook sales at Amazon have outnumbered traditional print books. I think I've read too many 'end of the world' novels because stuff like this really worries me for the future lol. Electronic data and communication are great but when the it's the end of the world and the power goes out what have you got? Also, i don't want to see small town bookstores go out of business. I think I heard someone say recently that a town isn't a town without a bookstore.
